ALGIERS- President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune has ordered the closing of all schools of the three education cycles, as well as universities and vocational training institutes, until Thursday April 5th which marks the end of spring holidays, said a communiqué from the Presidency.
The measure aims at spreading coronavirus in Algeria.
“The President of the Republic Abdelmadjid Tebboune, following consultation with the ministers, ordered the closing of schools of primary, intermediate and secondary education as of Thursday 12 March 2020 until the end of spring holidays, on April 5th ” added the communiqué.
President Tebboune also ordered the closing of Universities and Vocational training institutes, except faculties where re-take examination sessions are taking place.
The decision also concerns training establishments coming under the vocational training sector, as well as Coran schools, the zaouias, the literacy classes and all private educational establishments and kindergartens, according to the same source.
The decision comes as a preventive measure to prevent the spread of the coronavirus pandemic, the source said.
