The President of the Republic’s speech comes in a context where Algeria has raised the level of its ambitions

ALGIERS – The Office of the Council of the Nation welcomed, Monday, the content of the speech delivered by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, on Sunday, before the two chambers of Parliament, considering that this speech takes place in a context where ” the new and triumphant Algeria has raised the level of its ambitions, strengthened its objectives and taken up the challenge of respecting its commitments and making its promises a reality,” indicates a press release from the Council of the Nation.

“The President of the Council of the Nation, Mr. Salah Goudjil, chaired a meeting of the Office of the Council of the Nation extended to the presidents of the standing committees, the presidents of the parliamentary groups as well as the Parliamentary Quaestor, following the participation of the Council of the nation to the work of the extraordinary session of Parliament, meeting in its two chambers, organized Sunday December 29, 2024 at the Palais des Nations, at the invitation of the President of the Republic”, specifies the same source.

Thus, “the Office of the Council of Nation, enlarged, chaired by Mr. Salah Goudjil and on behalf of the members of the Council, addresses its sincere thanks and deep gratitude to the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, for the content of the speech -program that he delivered before the representatives of the people gathered in an extraordinary parliamentary session and welcomes the positive perspectives resulting from the fruitful efforts and dynamic initiatives undertaken by the institutions of the Republic throughout the past year, both nationally and internationally.

In this sense, “the keynote speech, a true reference document, is a substantial assessment which intervenes at the heart of the current dynamic of national building and judicious policies driven by the President of the Republic”, notes the press release, underlining that it is “a constitutional opportunity to recall the efforts of the State, the initiatives of public authorities, as well as the achievements, achievements and challenges”.

The National Council also notes that “this speech made it possible to debate and evaluate the state of the nation, to highlight its assets in the national and regional political and economic configuration, while guaranteeing its food and energy security and hydraulic and by preparing a prosperous future in the medium and long term”, noting that “the speech underlined the importance of the diversification of the economy, the continuation of the fight against corruption, respect for the rule of law , the creation of wealth and jobs, as well as the deepening and rooting of true democratic practice, starting with the imminent amendment of the commune and wilaya Codes, followed, in a later phase, by the revision of the laws on political parties, associations and territorial reorganization of the country.

The Bureau of the Council also noted that “this speech of evaluation and diagnosis constitutes a source of inspiration and reminder”, observing that it comes in “a context where the new and triumphant Algeria has raised the level of its ambitions, strengthened its objectives and took up the challenge of respecting its commitments and making its promises a reality, in addition to the fact that this speech is part of a phase where Algeria is exploring the paths to success from various angles, identifying the gaps to fill and the measures to be adopt to prevent future pitfalls, with the aim of achieving the hoped-for and sought-after salvation.”

“The latter, proclaiming themselves demiurges of freedom and often supported by their peers, arrogant and ignorant of realities, repeatedly attempt to defame Algeria with unfounded accusations and speculations that reason rejects and that evidence refutes” , underlines the press release from the Council of the Nation.

The Office recalls that “the truth is clear and striking and cannot be concealed and that national unity remains the only path to salvation in the face of the dangers that await the country”

To this end and in this “period marked by profound historical upheavals and unprecedented turmoil in certain regions”, the Office of the Council of the Nation urges the Algerian people to put “the interests of the nation above all considerations, to strengthen national cohesion, strengthen ties and spare no effort to maintain its unity.

He expresses his “full confidence in the dignity of the Algerian people, a proud people who betray neither their faith for a pittance nor their honor for a life of baseness”, underlining “the renewed concern of the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune, to preserve the record of the nation’s collective memory, as well as the place it occupies in the national consciousness.

He added that the President of the Republic “insists on the importance of not forgetting this issue, of not minimizing its scope and of not forgiving or tolerating colonial France and any attempt to erase or obscure this chapter of history.

The Office also praises “the personal commitment of the President to maintain the social character of the State and the independence of political and economic decisions of the new and victorious Algeria”, noting that these commitments are considered as “factors reinforcing the foundations of the well-being, dignity and pride of the nation, as well as its honor and prestige.

For the Council of the Nation, “all these elements make the President of the Republic a figure worthy of the trust of the Algerian people, thus consolidating this sacred bond and this solid and unwavering relationship between the President and the people”, reiterating in this regard “his unwavering confidence in the President of the Republic, guarantor of national sovereignty and architect of its structural construction, as well as his unwavering and total support for all the initiatives and steps undertaken by the President”.

The Office of the Council of the Nation also expresses “its pride and admiration for the honorable positions of principle of Algerian diplomacy, which strives to consolidate the bases of lasting peace, to find effective solutions to just causes in the world, to fight against all forms of colonialism and to support the right of peoples to freedom, emancipation and self-determination”, reaffirming that Algeria “will forever devote itself to Palestinian and Sahrawi causes.
